When even I can think of good reasons for someone to be in SSB, you know the character is good. Thus, Kamek's good for SSB.
One, he's one of the most major Mario villains, rivalling Bowser Junior. Thus, he has a large role in the franchise.
Two, people don't need to worry about there being six main series Mario characters, because he could just as easily qualify as a Yoshi character.
Three, it's easy to think of a unique moveset, and even a Final Smash. (He could become Giant Kamek from SPP, he could have a Final Smash based on Sticker Star where he attacks opponents with a giant sandal, etc.)
Fourth, it's easy to think of palette swaps for him. (You could have his usual light blue and white robes, the alternate colours for Magikoopas in the Paper Mario games, Kammy Koopa's colours, maybe completely dark blue robes.)
Heck, he could even use a Yoshi's Island stage when he's being fought to be unlocked.
